Langholm is about to raise a glass to its past—and its future—with the official launch of The Muckletoon, a new blended malt Scotch whisky created to celebrate the town’s rich history and enduring spirit.
The launch event is on Thursday 26th June at 7:00pm in the elegant surroundings of the Eskdale Hotel—one of Langholm’s most iconic buildings. Attendees will enjoy a welcome drink, canapés, a guided tasting, and stories linking Langholm’s distilling heritage to the creation of this brand-new whisky.
A Celebration of Local Flavour and History
The Muckletoon is the latest addition to the “Local Dram” series. Our founder and blender, Nick Bullard, finished the blend in a Pedro Ximénez cask, resulting in a rich, spicy dram with notes of baked plums and cinnamon pears. “It’s a whisky worthy of the name Muckletoon,” Nick says, referring to Langholm’s nickname as the ‘big town’ of the Borders.
This is the fifth expression in the Local Dram range, following our other popular blends such as The Doonhamer and the Stranraer Oyster Festival blended malt Scotch, and marks the first time Langholm has had its own signature whisky in modern memory.
Featuring Whisky Historian and Special Guest Speaker
We are so pleased to have whisky historian and author Justine Hazlehurst joining us for the evening. She is founder of Kask Whisky and co-director of the Fife Whisky Festival and Borderlands Whisky Festival. Justine brings a wealth of expertise on Scotch whisky heritage and has judged at leading international whisky awards. Her talk will share fascinating insights into the historical ties between whisky and the Borders, alongside a lively guided tasting.
This event offers more than just great whisky—it’s a toast to Langholm’s industrial heritage, community pride, and the stories that bind past and present. “When someone asks what the local dram is in Langholm,” says Nick, “we want the answer to be: The Muckletoon.”
